“What is that green goop that you're drinking?…”
“What? It’s green goop. It’s a China thing.”
A question so eloquently asked by my bestie Zacharoo during one of our Skype dates.
“What’s wrong with you? It’s a green smoothie, what do you think it is??” I may have been a bit harsh. It’s okay. You know I love you Zacharoo.
I may bake killer cookies, but I suck at smoothies. Which is weird right? I always struggle with what I want to put in my smoothies because I want the health benefits, but I want them done properly. What I mean is normally people put a chunk of pineapple or something in their green smoothies so it doesn't taste like you’re drinking a liquified dead lawn. My issue with that is the super spike in sugar levels that come with adding that pineapple. Yes, it is a natural sugar from a fruit, but glucose is glucose, and your liver will react the same way regardless the form its delivered in. So, what to put in a green smoothie? I’ll tell ya. I have at least one of these a day here in Shanghai. Sometimes I’ll make one to have with dinner if I don't feel like I’ve been eating well enough…Which I definitely haven't been. It’s also super cheap and easy to make this in Shanghai. Easier than in Waterloo.

Yes the order does matter if you have a not so great blender like I do. Heres the order I follow:
-Lemon, ginger, cucumber, apple, romaine, celery, water
*Blend until smooth*
-Kale, banana
*Blend until smooth*
-Ice
