I am extremely lactose intolerant. This makes pizza kind of a difficult food to have, so I just opt not to. However, there is one exception to my pizza-less life and that is One Pizza. If you've ever had a conversation about pizza in front of me, I have talked your ear off about how great this pizza is. It's a photo of one of their pizzas that got me noticed by National Post's Gastropost.
So here's the deal with One Pizza: They're personal sized pizzas where you can choose one of their combinations for $11.50 or create your own for $11.50 You choose your dough, sauce, cheese, toppings, and garnishes. You could choose every topping if you wanted, but you probably don't want to. It'll be messy, and not as great as you imagined it to be during your daze of discovering unlimited toppings. These toppings are sourced from St. Lawrence Market which is just around the corner from this Toronto pizza oasis.
This is one of my Toronto gems. So naturally, during my weekend home, after not having pizza since before I left for Shanghai, I had to get my hands on some delicious, dairy covered, bread. We had a whole plan: Go to One Pizza, then G for Gelato for rose and amaretto gelato, then go see Sisters. We got to One Pizza only to find it wasn't One Pizza anymore. The glass storefront read "TRUE TRUE". OK. We walked up and tried to open the door but it was locked. A guy saw us and came up to the door. He was the same guy who served me 6 months ago. He told us that tomorrow was actually their opening day. That they had re-vamped it, made the salads a really big deal and made the pizzas even better. "Is that even possible?" is how I responded to that. He grabbed us a couple of 50% off salad coupons and apologized. We went and got sushi instead.

The design was pretty consistent with a hip Toronto restaurant. Industrial, modern feel. It now looks like the pizza joint hangout place on a Disney Channel show. There's a whole lot of pink and teal, and the exposed brick has been replaced with mirrors.
The manager said they were going for a brighter look with more seating, which I guess is fair. There is a lot more seating now, and it's definitely brighter.
But I don't know how I feel about the amount of mirrors.
Nevertheless, the pizza is still freaking amazing and a great deal. So if you're in the 6ix and feeling some quality pizza, head to TRUE TRUE Pizza on King.
Be true, be you, don't eat shit pizza.
